• How + [형용사] + [주어] + [동사]: [주어]가 정말 그 정도로 [동사]하다니!
  • How lazy you are!
  • How beautiful she is!

 

📢 Come on. Give her break. It's hard being on your own for the first time.

• Give + [사람] + a break: 이 [사람]을 한 번 봐주다, 너무 질책하지마라, 그만 괴롭혀라
  • Give me a break! It was just 5 minutes.
• Be on one's own: 혼자 있다, 혼자서 해내다, 스스로 해결하다
  • I had to finish it on my own.
  • I need some time on my own.

 

📢 My mom had just killed herself and my step-dad was back in prison, and I got here, and I didn't know anybody.

• Had p.p.(과거완료): 대과거라고도 하며 그 문장 또는 전 문장에 과거시점이 나왔었고 그 과거시점보다 더 이전에 일어난 일을 묘사할 때 쓰는 문법
  • I had lived in America before I came back to Korea.

• End up + [동사ing]: 어쩌다보니 결국 [동사]하게 되다
  • She ended up marring John.
  • If you keep gambling, you'll end up losing everything.
